Police offer reward in murder of LI construction worker

Officials say a reward is now being offered to track down the killer of a Suffolk construction worker.

Raymond Hirt, of Mastic Beach, was gunned down on the morning of May 24 at a construction site in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Witnesses say a dark colored SUV operated by a man pulled up beside Hirt's car parked at Beech Street and Portion Road. They say someone started shooting and hit 51-year-old Hirt in the neck.

Police believe Hirt was targeted, but don't have a motive yet.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone with information.

Anyone with information on the killing is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
