LI realtor accused of scamming clients

Some Coram residents say they were scammed by a real estate agent who tried to rent them properties that already had tenants.

Shara Thomas, of Coram, says she gave licensed real estate agent Rick Willis $2,000 as a security deposit to rent a house. However, Thomas says as she was preparing to move into her new home, she discovered that another woman was already living there.

So far, five people have come forward to News 12 Long Island claiming Willis took their money for properties that weren't actually available.

When confronted by News 12 in Ridge, Willis denied any allegations of wrongdoing and asked to contact his attorney.

Suffolk police say they're investigating the scam claims.
