Yankees to honor Steinbrenner, Sheppard

The baseball world took a pause to mourn the loss of Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

A moment of silence was observed before the start of last night?s All-Star game in memory of Steinbrenner, who died yesterday of a massive heart attack at the age of 80.

The Yankees players will honor 'The Boss' throughout the season by wearing uniforms with 'GS' embroidered onto a patch.

The Bombers will also wear another patch on their uniforms in honor of long-time Yankees announcer Bob Sheppard, who died Sunday at the age of 99.

Sheppard will be laid to rest tomorrow in Baldwin.
