Group says Shinnecocks don't qualify for recognition

A Connecticut group has come out against federal recognition for the Shinnecocks, claiming the tribe has failed to meet the set qualifications.

Connecticut Coalition for Gaming Jobs also says if the Shinnecocks open a casino it would hurt the two Indian-run casinos in that state.

The Southampton-based tribe was notified last month it would receive federal recognition following a lengthy review process that ends next week.
