Man accused of stealing ambulance on LI

(AP) - Police say a New York City man stolean ambulance parked in front of a Long Island hospital.

Authorities say the ambulance was taken from the John MatherMemorial Hospital in Port Jefferson at about 11:50 a.m. on Friday.

It was recovered just 10 minutes later, about a mile away.

Police arrested 30-year-old Joseph Rey, of Brooklyn, at thescene.

The ambulance belonged to the Terryville Fire Department.

Police say the ambulance crew was dropping off a patient at theemergency room at the time of the theft.
