1 dead, 2 hospitalized in East Meadow crash

A tragic crash on Hempstead Turnpike claimed the life of an elderly woman in East Meadow.

Police say that Ann Lee, 84, of Lynbrook, and her husband were driving east when their SUV collided with a car near Franklin Avenue.

Lee was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center, which was only a block away from the crash, but she died a short time after.

Her husband Gerard is in critcal condition, while the driver of the other car, Harriet Anderson, is in stable condition.

No tickets were issued at the time and police are investigating the cause of the crash.
