Jews on LI, around the world celebrate Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah! The festival of lights got under way tonight at sundown.

Jews on Long Island and around the world are celebrating the miracle of Hanukkah by lighting the menorah, giving gifts and eating special foods.

According to Jewish religious tradition, one night's worth of oil burned miraculously for eight nights in the Temple of Jerusalem after it was reclaimed from the Syrians more than 2,500 years ago.
