$206M Mega Millions ticket sold in Middle Island
A lucky Long Islander may be ringing in the new year as a mega-millionaire.
According to the New York Lottery website, the sole winning Mega Millions ticket for the $206 million jackpot was sold in Middle Island.
The ticket was bought at the King Kullen on Middle Country Road at 2 p.m. on Christmas.
"We have a ton of regular lottery players, so we hope it's one of our regulars," says King Kullen employee Lisa Korpi. "We'd be very happy for them."
Employees at the store say they also sold a $100 million scratch-off ticket last December.
Back in June, 20 workers at the Melville Costco warehouse pooled their money and bought a winning Powerball ticket for a jackpot of nearly $209 million at a stationery store in Lindenhurst. The last major Mega Millions winners on the Island were Richard and Mary Morrison, of Miller Place, who hit the $165 million jackpot in Dec. 2009.
The winning numbers are 23,32,33,39 and 43. The Megaball is 8.
