Long Islanders are cleaning up today after a night of wicked winds that walloped the area, wreaking havoc in their path.
At MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, winds ripped the roof off a helicopter hangar. No one was hurt in the incident, but officials are inspecting the damage to the building today.
Gusty winds brought down trees on Sheffield Avenue in West Babylon, leaving streets littered with branches and holiday decorations.
Power poles and wires were also knocked down on 3rd Avenue off Carleton Avenue in Central Islip.
At one point, nearly 10,000 LIPA customers were without power overnight.
