Police probe another elderly distraction burglary in Bellmore

Police are investigating after they say another distraction burglary occurred today in Bellmore.

Officials say a 91-year-old woman was lured out of her Maple Avenue home by a Hispanic woman asking about yard work.

The victim talked to the woman for about 10 minutes while an accomplice entered the victim's home and made off money, credit cards and jewelry, police say.

Investigators say the Hispanic woman was described as light-skinned woman in her 20s with bulging eyes. She was wearing a Bluetooth headset.

Police say this is the eighth such burglary in recent weeks. Almost all of the robberies have targeted victims who were at least 80 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
