LIers eye ditching their banks in favor of credit unions

as Bank Transfer Day, encouraging people to abandon big banks and switch to smaller ones that don't charge any fees.

Bethpage Credit Union CEO Kirk Kordeleski says his bank is a cooperative owned by its members and not by shareholders. Members may be charged for using their cards at other banks, but otherwise, there are no fees for transactions.

However, certified financial planner Henry Montag says it's always a good idea not to act emotionally and read the fine print, no matter whose card you're using.
