More than 100 protest plan to build mall in Syosset

More than 100 protesters gathered today in Syosset to voice their continued opposition to build a mall in the area.

The proposed 750,000 square foot mall would be located near Robins Lane, near the Long Island Expressway.

The mall has been under development for the past 17 years.

"This is not the time for another mall to be put up," says Todd Fabricant. "This is the time for Long Island to do smart growth and create a place that's compatible with the community."

However, the developer, Bill Taubman, says the project will create jobs and increase tax revenue.

Civic leaders say they developed a plan would include new housing as well as senior housing on the site.
