Report: Foreclosure filings down on LI

According to the latest data, fewer Long Islanders are losing their homes to foreclosure, but that is not necessarily good news. RealtyTrac says there were nearly 500 foreclosure filings across Nassau and Suffolk last month, down 27 percent from September and 51 percent from a year ago.However, experts say the numbers suggest a longer process of settling problems with homeowners and putting foreclosed homes on the market.
