Police nab suspect in Westbury pharmacy heist
Police have arrested a Westbury man who they say robbed a Bethpage drug store at gunpoint and attempted to hold up another pharmacy yesterday.
According to investigators, David Ok, 21, walked into Bethpage Medical Pharmacy at around 2:30 p.m. carrying a gun and wearing a black cloth to cover his face. Police say Ok handed the pharmacist a note demanding oxycodone and then took off with the pills.
Police say Ok first attempted to rob Island Care Pharmacy in Plainview, but when he encountered what is called a "bandit barrier," he ran away. An hour later, he allegedly robbed the Bethpage pharmacy. No one was injured in either incident.
Yesterday's robbery is the latest of a string of drug store holdups on Long Island, among them the deadly Father's Day robbery in Medford.
Ok now faces a slew of charges, including first-degree robbery. Police say he is also responsible for a pharmacy heist in Plainview that happened in August. Charges upgraded against wife of accused pharmacy killerSuspected Medford pharmacy killer indicted
