N. Hempstead starts new school lunch program to help the needy

The Town of North Hempstead has initiated a new school lunch program that would give to the needy.

Starting this Thursday, students will be able to donate parts of their lunches they do not want, according to Newsday.

The food must be unopened and non-perishable items.

The program called "Food to Feed" will have special donation boxes set up in 47 school cafeterias in the Town of North Hempstead.
