Cops: Female driver killed in collision with tractor-trailer on LIE

Police say a fatal accident involving a commercial tractor-trailer and a Kia Sorento shut down all westbound lanes for hours on the LIE in Jericho this morning.

According to detectives, the accident happened on the westbound LIE near exit 41S at around 3 a.m.

Cops say the 69-year-old female operator of the car was entering the expressway from an entrance ramp and apparently struck the rear of the tractor-trailer. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives report no apparent criminality in connection with the accident. The vehicles were impounded for a safety inspection.
