Police: Nesconset dad drove drunk with child in car

Police arrested a Nesconset man for allegedly driving drunk with his 2-year-old child in the car yesterday.

Authorities says a motorist spotted Christopher Weiss driving drunk down Route 25 in Commack at around 12:30 p.m. with his front passenger tire worn down to the rim. His child was in the back seat.

Weiss' neighbors were shocked by the news of his arrest, describing him as a good man.

The Nesconset dad is the latest in a growing list of Long Islanders arrested under Leandra's Law. Since April, over a half-dozen adults have been accused of driving drunk with children in the car.

Weiss has been charged with aggravated DWI with a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
