The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that Hofstra University in Hempstead will be the site of the second presidential debate next year.

The debate is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2012.

The debate will be between President Barack Obama and the Republican challenger who wins the party's nomination.

Besides Hofstra, the University of Denver in Denver, Colo. and Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. will host the first and third presidential debates, respectively.
