Huntington scores highest on LI for sewage treatment

Huntington has been given an "A+" for the way it handles sewage.

The Citizens Campaign for the Environment today released its first Island-wide report card on sewage treatment plants. Huntington's plant scored highest for its use of green technology and low negative outputs. Plants in Long Beach and Bay Park scored the worst.

Officials in Nassau County, which runs Bay Park, say the study overlooked major improvements that have occurred in the past year. The City of Long Beach says the grading system may not have been completely fair.
