Appeals court approves GOP redistricting plan in Nassau

A state court has approved a controversial Republican redistricting plan in Nassau, but Democrats are already vowing to file another appeal. A state appellate court yesterday upheld the GOP's plan to redraw the boundaries of Nassau County's legislative districts. Republican Presiding Officer Peter Schmitt says he's "gratified" by the ruling. However, Democratic leaders and minority communities say they would lose political clout with the new plan. They are planning to appeal the decision with the state's highest court.
