LI communities clean up after bout of wild weather

Many Long Islanders are contacting their insurance companies and cleaning up today, after a summer storm blew through and caused damage to homes and streets last night.

In Patchogue, strong gusts sent a tree toppling down onto a house, dragging down power lines and causing lots of damage. Fire officials say no one was injured.

Strikes of lightning may have also sparked some fires across the Island. News 12 Long Island viewers submitted photos and videos of fires in West Babylon, Sayville and East Islip.

According to LIPA, hundreds of thousands of customers reported power outages in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.Click to submit YOUR wild weather photots!
