North Merrick woman recovers after pit bull attack

Police say a North Merrick woman is recovering after she was mauled by a pack of pit bulls yesterday.

The woman was reportedly arguing with the owner of the five dogs at a home on Bridge Street yesterday when the dogs attacked.

Police say the victim was mauled by at least three of the dogs, suffering severe bites to her arms, legs, face and head. The woman who owned the dogs was also bitten on her arm.

The Town of Hempstead has seized the dogs and issued summonses to its owners, official say.Merrick woman attacked by pack of pit bulls
