Port Jeff man charged with abusing dog

Officials say a Port Jefferson man is facing charges for allegedly caging and starving his dog.

Christopher Petit, 37, was arrested on animal abuse charges, authorities say.

The Suffolk County SPCA says Petit kept a pit bull locked in a travel crate in a dark basement without food or water. They say the dog was found emaciated with cuts and sores on its body.
