Simple mistakes could be hurting the environment
There are some things you may be doing every day that could be hurting your efforts to go green. News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen has some of those 'mistakes' and how you can avoid them.
There's nothing like a fresh cup of tea or coffee in the morning to get you going. But instead of reaching for those disposable cups each day, how about filling up with a reusable mug? Some shops on Long Island even offer a discount if you bring your own mug.
When it comes to gas, most people like to top off the tank to get to a round number. But environmentalists say that contributes to air pollution.
And how many people leave the tap running while brushing their teeth? Turning it off while you clean your smile could save up to eight gallons of water in one day, which means about 100 gallons a month.
Environmentalists say it's the small changes that could add up to a big difference for the planet.
