Christopher Loeb sentenced to 3 years for breaking into, stealing from Suffolk police chief’s car

A Smithtown man has been sentenced to three years in prison for breaking into a Suffolk police chief's SUV.
Police say Christopher Loeb took a gun belt, ammunition and handcuffs from an SUV belonging to Suffolk Chief of Department James Burke in 2012. Loeb said he did it to feed a drug habit.
Loeb testified at a pre-trial hearing that Chief Burke beat him up while he was in custody. However, an FBI probe cleared Burke.
