Police: Woman forced to her Freeport home at gunpoint by masked man, shots fired

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Freeport woman, forced her back to her home at gunpoint and then shot at her.
Detectives say a masked man walked up to the woman on Sunrise Highway at around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
According to police, the man took the woman's phone and then forced her at gunpoint to walk back to her home on Randall Avenue. The suspect then told her she needed to give him at least $5,000.
As the pair approached her home, police say the woman tried grabbing the gun. They say the gunman fired twice but the woman was not hit.
There were no injuries.
Authorities say the gunman, who still had the woman's cellphone, did not get any money and ran away down North Brookside Avenue. Police have not said if the incident was a random crime or if the woman knew the gunman.
The woman's husband and their children were home during the incident.
Police want anyone with more information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
