Man wanted for stealing cancer donation box

Police are searching for the man who stole a cancer donation box from a gas station.

A security camera inside the store shows the man stealing from the Citgo station on North Country Road in St. James on March 9.

The station's owner Brian Barton says the money was supposed to go to a Stony Brook camp for kids with cancer. It had just $15 to $20 inside.

Barton says a new donation jar has been secured on the gas station's counter top.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
