News 12/Hofstra poll: Long Islanders split on financial future

A new poll shows that Long Islanders are split on how their wallets and bank accounts will fare over the next year.
A News 12/Hofstra University poll asked Long Islanders,"Do you expect that at this time next year you will be financially better off than now or worse off than now?"
A total of 38.2 percent of responders said they will be better off next year. Another 20 percent said they'll be worse off, and 37 percent said things will remain the same. About 4.6 percent were undecided.
Back in 2012, News 12/Hofstra University asked Long Islanders the same question. Back then, just 29 percent were optimistic enough about their financial future to say that they'd be better off.
