Some pint-sized ball players spent Saturday's warm weather checking out their brand new ball fields in Central Islip.
The new fields on Eastview Drive were the result of an agreement between the Town of Islip and a developer. Central Islip Little League President Joe Hennie says their old facility was worn out.
The new grounds include seven fields, two T-ball fields and new batting cages that will get set up with nets soon.
David Pedraza, 9, thought the new fields were a homerun for the community. "I'm excited because it's safer and better," he told News 12.
