Four people are charged in connection with a daytime burglary spree on the North Shore.
District Attorney Thomas Spota says a four-man crew led by 28-year-old James Buchanan, of Melville, broke into homes on the North Shore and in central Suffolk County since November. The burglaries spanned from Cold Spring Harbor to Rocky Point.
Buchanan is accused in 21 robberies. Michael Hall is accused in 11 burglaries. Chris Parides and John Anastasiou are both accused in nine burglaries.
Investigators say the crew targeted homes during the day that were empty. Suffolk DA Tom Spota says in nearly all the cases, the suspects would knock on the front door and kick it in or pry it open if nobody answered.
Police say the suspects were pulling off the crimes to feed their heroin habit.
