Isaiah Bird, 6, was born with a defect that left him without legs. His personal battles don't end there: he lives in a shelter at a Glen Cove church with his mother and 1-year-old brother, and his family can't afford a wheelchair so Isaiah gets around on his hands.
Impressed with Isaiah's strength, coach Miguel Rodriguez suggested he give wrestling a shot.
"Wrestling is a sport where you don't really need legs to be an athlete," says Rodriguez.
Isaiah won so many matches this year that he qualified for the state tournament.
This weekend, Isaiah will be competing at a national wrestling tournament in Brockport.
