Drexel Avenue Elementary School students get nutrition lesson from Food Channel executive director

Students at the Drexel Avenue Elementary School in Westbury were visited by Food Channel Executive Director Robert Bleifer Wednesday for a lesson in nutrition.

Bleifer showed the kids how to put vegetables together to make a healthy meal.

The students also made health snacks, including vegetable pizzas and "ants on a log" with celery, hummus and raisins.

They also practiced some yoga poses in an effort to keep the kids fit.

"So many kids, so many adults in this country struggle with obesity," said Bleifer. "Any opportunity I have to get them on the right track [is] perfect for me."
