"I was tired of walking and my bike had a flat."
That was part of the statement Michael Nash, 20, gave to police regarding his reasoning for allegedly stealing a car from a Jiffy Lube Tuesday and eventually crashing it into a Patchogue storefront.
According to police, Nash stole a Honda Pilot from a Jiffy Lube about 2 miles from the crash site at Avenue Sound on East Main Street. He led police on a chase down Route 112 before smashing into the store, which had six people inside.
Officials say a woman suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Nash was also treated for injuries.
He pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including grand larceny and reckless endangerment, at his arraignment Wednesday.
Nash was arrested last week on two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
