Police search for missing 82-year-old Jean Taber, of Riverside
Police are looking for an 82-year-old Riverside woman who was last seen on Thursday.
Officials say Jean Taber was last seen on County Road 104 south of the Riverwoods mobile home park. Some say she was walking her cocker spaniel, named Freckles, while others say she was looking for the dog. The great-grandmother has mild dementia and is on medication.
State police, friends and family have been searching for the woman. A helicopter searched from the air while K-9 units searched on the ground. Investigators are also knocking on doors in the mobile complex to ask residents if they spotted her.
State Police Capt. William Hulse says it's a difficult search because there's so much wooded area to cover. However, police say they're not going to stop searching until she's found.
The woman's son, Glenn Taber, fought back tears as he spoke to News 12 today. "I'm trying to stay hopeful," he said. "It's been obviously two days and it's been cold at night."
Taber is described as standing at 5 feet tall and weighing about 110 pounds. She has red hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, a black vest, beige pants and a hat.
Anyone who may have seen Taber is asked to call state police at 631-208-9002.
