Members of the Freeport community came together on Saturday to help clean up property at a school that suffered during Superstorm Sandy.
Parents, teachers, students and members of the group Friends of Freeport were all on hand to help clean up the Leo F. Giblyn School's courtyard.
Principal Amanda Muldowney says it's an important space for the children. "My hope is that this will be an extension of their learning, that they'll be able to take what they learn in science and math and bring it outside," she says.
School officials say the next step is to do some fundraising to get the money they need to buy plants for their new courtyard.
