A Southold town court clerk has been arraigned on charges she skimmed $50,000 from the town's courts.
Christine Stulsky, a town employee for more than 30 years, worked as the senior justice court clerk and would collect fines and bail money from defendants. Prosecutors say she spent some of the money collected on personal items instead of depositing it.
Sources tell News 12 Long Island that Stulsky may have been pocketing money for more than 15 years, which could add up to more than the $50,000 she's accused of taking.
Stulsky has no prior criminal history. Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell says she resigned this week. According to Russell, audits were performed over the years but did not find any "red flags."
Stulsky posted a $10,000 bond and is due back in court May 27.
