Riley Avenue Elementary School students in Calverton unveil mosaic

Kindergarten through fourth-grade students at Riley Avenue Elementary in Calverton unveiled a mosaic in the school's library Tuesday.

More than 600 students helped create the artwork by carefully gluing and pasting pieces of tile onto a flat surface.

Art teacher Melissa Haupt told News 12 that each student will be able to take pride in the creation of the mosaic, especially when students come back to visit.

It took two years for the students to raise the money to put the mosaic together.
