Affordable Care Act health coverage deadline approaches; enrollment ends March 31

The March 31 deadline to get signed up for health coverage under the Affordable Health Act is just a week away, and there's an effort on Long Island to get people to sign up.

The Freeport and Roosevelt chapter of the NAACP is hosting an enrollment drive on Saturday to try to get more people coverage before the deadline the following Monday.

The event will be held at the Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Freeport, and it will provide free assistance to those who qualify for coverage. People will get help signing up not just in English, but also in Haitian and Creole.

Once the opened enrollment period ends, people will not be able to sign up again until November.
