Three teens have been charged in an attack on a woman in Brentwood.
The incident happened while the woman was walking on MacArthur Avenue on March 7. According to police, the three teens punched the 52-year-old in the head, knocked her to the ground and kicked her. The woman suffered a concussion and broken ribs.
The teens have been identified as Wayne Beavers, 16, Qwatese Jarvis, 16, and Wilfredo Torres, 17.
Officials say all three teens claim they did not know the victim was a woman.
Police say Torres threw the first punch. They say the attack was caught on a home security camera on MacArthur Avenue. Torres' attorney denied the charges, claiming that his client has no record of any violent crime.
Prosecutors say they have a confession from Torres and from the two other 16-year-olds in which Jarvis and Beavers said they only kicked the victim in the stomach.
Police told News 12 they do not believe the attack was part of the "knockout game" where random people are assaulted.
Lt. Patrick Reilly says it may have been a case of mistaken identity.
All three teens have been charged with assault in the third degree and are being held on $1,000 cash bail. They are due back in court next month.
