Four Long Island residents are now millionaires thanks to the New York State Lottery.
Thomas Mainella, an electrician from Melville, spoke with News 12 about his win.
"There was a big traffic jam on the Southern State. A truck hit an overpass. I had to find a short-cut home," said Mainella. On the way, he decided to buy a scratch-off ticket from his favorite stationary store. The win made him $5 million richer.
Each of the lottery winners played scratch-off games: Maximum Millions, Million Dollar Money Clip, Set for Life and Black Diamonds.
