Family: Body found inside car identified as missing Syosset woman Jasmine Joseph
The family of a missing Syosset woman tells News 12 that a body found Tuesday morning has been positively identified as 22-year-old Jasmine Joseph.
Joseph's Nissan Altima and her body were located in Syosset Plaza off of Jericho Turnpike at around 1 a.m.
Police removed the vehicle from the parking lot after discovering that the license plates matched Joseph's car. News 12 Long Island has learned the keys were found inside the car.
Inspector Kenneth Lack says Joseph's death appears to be a suicide. He says she was found wedged in between the front and back seats on the floor of the car. She was not visible to passersby.
The inspector says Joseph inhaled a noxious substance, but the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
Joseph told her parents that she had been taking nursing classes at NYIT in Old Westbury, but the school confirmed to News 12 that she had not been enrolled in any classes since last May.
A high school friend remembered Joseph as "an incredible human being" who loved her friends and family.
