A Babylon man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a children's hospital donation jar.
The jar was stolen from the Flag Beverage store in Lindenhurst and the theft was caught on surveillance video. The store's owner says the jar collected funds for Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, where his son was treated after he was born with a heart condition.
Police say the suspect, Thomas Campion, was arrested at a Panera in West Babylon shortly after News 12 Long Island aired the story earlier Sunday. Someone in the restaurant recognized Campion and called 911.
Campion has been charged with petit larceny and is due in court in Central Islip Monday.
