Funeral held for Philip Smart, music producer in Freeport

Funeral services were held today for Philip Smart, an influential music producer who owned and operated a recording studio in Freeport.

Smart was responsible for bringing some of the biggest reggae acts to the American mainstream.

Loved ones say he was a production prodigy.

"If he told you that a song was going to be No. 1, trust me, it was going to be No. 1," said Francine Chin, a local radio host.

Smart died at the age of 53 last week after a long battle with cancer.
