Court ruling to possibly reduce deer culling rate

The deer cull in Southold has started, but a new court ruling may reduce the number of deer being killed.
A judge in Albany has blocked the state from issuing new permits to shoot deer until March 28, according to Newsday.
It is not clear how many deer have already been shot.
The state judge put new permits on hold, saying opponents of the cull are "likely to succeed" in their claims.

Deer can still be shot using current permits.
