Steven Clancy, Javier Gonzalez killed in Roslyn Heights crash

Police say two teens were killed in a car accident in Roslyn Heights early Wednesday morning.

According to detectives, a 19-year-old male victim was driving northbound on Roslyn Road near Locust Lane when he lost control. The vehicle struck the curb and then a tree in the rear yard of an Oake Lane residence.

The driver, Steven Clancy, 19, and his passenger, Javier Gonzalez, 19, both from Mineola, were pronounced dead at the scene.

People who knew the victims say Clancy and Gonzalez were best friends. They say the men attended college locally after graduating from Mineola High School. Clancy attended Adelphi University and Gonzalez attended Nassau Community College.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
