Prosecutors: Joseph Valerio, of Smithtown, accused of child porn charges, had hidden cameras in home
A Smithtown real estate investor facing child porn charges allegedly had hidden cameras in his basement.
According to Newsday, federal prosecutors say the FBI and Suffolk police found cameras in the ceiling, in a wall clock and under what appeared to be a mini-stage inside Joseph Valerio's home.
The 47-year-old allegedly forced his former girlfriend in Ukraine to send him pornographic images of her 3-year-old daughter.
New charges were filed this week after Valerio was accused of producing child pornography involving a little girl in the basement of his home. According to a complaint filed in federal court, investigators found 22 images of a 6-year-old girl on a memory card inside Valerio's computer room.
Valerio had been out on $3.5 million bond. He is currently being held without bail.
