A career criminal was sentenced today to 18 to 21 years in prison for burglarizing and torching the home of a state trooper serving overseas with the National Guard.
Harry Fleischmann Jr., of Patchogue, was convicted of ransacking and burning down the East Patchogue home of Eric Carver back in December 2012. Fleischmann was arrested in January 2013.
At the time of the crime, Carver had been stationed in Africa.
Fleischmann did not receive the maximum sentence, but Carver says justice has been served.
"As long as he's not making other people's lives miserable for a period of time, that's a win for all of us," he says.
