An 18 year-old Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School student has created an app to notify residents about emergencies.
Senior Scott Smith says the new app will allow people to receive notifications about emergencies and school closings, as well as view the school calendar on Twitter and other news pages.
The smartphone app can be found under the name "POB Schools."
