Police: 3 home burglaries reported in West Islip community

Police say three home burglaries took place on three separate streets in West Islip Monday.
Authorities say the incidents occurred between noon and 3 p.m.
In two of the cases, the burglars made off with electronics and jewelry, according to police.
The third case occurred on Paprocki Avenue, where police say a neighboring resident may have stopped a burglary in progress. Authorities say the resident saw an unfamiliar truck parked in front of a neighbor's home. When he came outside to check out the situation, two men inside the vehicle sped off.
Police say the vehicle is described as an older-model dark blue mid-size pickup truck with a hard cover over the bed.
Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
