Patchogue dad, Luis Lucero Fajardo, accused of leaving kids alone in cold car

A Patchogue dad is accused of leaving his baby and 5-year-old son alone in a freezing cold car.

Police arrested Luis Lucero Fajardo, 32, when he returned to his car from shopping for a phone card in Patchogue yesterday evening.

Witnesses say the 5-month-old and 5-year-old boys were alone in the car for at least 15 minutes before police arrived. Fajardo told police it was only a couple of minutes.

Police say Fajardo also had no driver's license and his car's registration had been suspended for having no insurance.

Farjado was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was released without having to post bail and is due back in court March 5.
